Southern Louisiana 84 C10 here!
Just found the board a couple of days ago. Looks like there's some useful info here. Anyway yea I have 1984 C10 pickup that's being prostreet'ed right now. And here's the short version on how I got it. It was my Dad's truck that he bought brand new in 84 off the lot and has been his work truck ever since. It actually was the first truck I drove when I got my license at 15 (I'm 27 now). Well almost exactly a year ago my Dad passed away of a sudden heart attack. He was 52. He and I use to always talk hot rods and he'd come to my shows when I use to show trucks. He used to have a couple of 69 Camaros back in the day so needless to say he was big into hot rods and cars/trucks of that era. Well... my Mom ended up giving me his truck so it wouldn't just sit up and rot away. I took it gladly and told myself I would build a hot rod out of it in memory of him and have a dedication airbrushed on the back of it. At least I know I'll have it for the rest of my life and some day it will be my son's.
Well here's some pics I thought I'd share. It has come a long way so far but still has a long way to go. **EDITED** Updated pic of the motor in the truck further down. Before... As it sits now... A photoshop of wheels / tires and lowered... Another photoshop... The original motor was a 305 / 700R4 and I took that out and replaced it with this... Specs... • 383 ci • 4 Bolt Main • Forged Alum Flat Top Pistons 11:1 Compression • Forged 5.7 Rods • Lunati Hydraulic Cam 246 Duration / 520 Lift • Camel Hump Heads • Comp Cams Valve Locks w/ Lash Cap Recess • Comp Cams Steel Retainers • Comp Cams Double Valve Springs w/ Damper • Stainless steel valves undercut - 202 Intake - 160 Exhaust • Victor Jr. Intake Manifold w/ Air Gap - Port Matched - 3500-8000 RPMs • Holley 750 Double Pumper Carburator w/ 2" Spacer • Double Roller Timing Chain • Mallory fuel filter canister type w/ replaceable filter • Jegs Pro Starter 4.41:1 gear reduction 1.9HP • MSD Pro Billet Distributor • MSD 6AL Ignition • MSD Blaster 3 Coil • MSD Adjustable Timing Control • MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Plug Wires • Hooker Headers 1 3/4" Primaries 3" collector • Moroso 7qt. oilpan plus filter, baffle w/ trap door & windage tray • Perma-Cool Oil Cooler • Perma-Cool 16" Fan • Billet Aluminum 10 Gallon Fuel Cell • Rebuilt TH350 Transmission w/ 3k stall • B&M Ratchet Shifter • Ford 9" rear end - 410 Gear Ratio - Posi Hopefully in the coming weeks I'll have a 4 link / coilover setup welded to a Ford 9" rear end that I have already that came out of my Nova. The rear fender wells are getting tubbed as well to fit some meat back there. So the motor is in I just have to mount the fuel cell and run my gas lines and I should be able to crank it up then. Still no driveshaft until I get the rear end under there to know my measurements on the custom shaft. Then there's the interior which will be a 100% rebuild but that will be much later. Re: Southern Louisiana 84 C10 here!
Wow thanks for all of the welcomes. Nice to see it appreciated. Makes it all worth while!
Here's a shot with the motor in the truck. I still have to mount the coil & regulator to the firewall, get a radiator / hoses, wire up MSD ignition, hook up power steering pump, chrome pullies, install my fuel line from the reg. to the fuel pump, mount the fuel cell & hook up the driveshaft before I can take it for a test spin. It's gonna sound mean with open long tube headers. That's what I had on my Nova. Last edited by SulphurDave; 11-08-2006 at 08:05 PM. |
