Re: Whats The Biggest Problems With Your Truck?

The number one, way biggest, never ending, no matter how many times fixed, is rust.
I don't think there is ANY pervasive problem greater than rust. Even less than a year after a total frame off restoration, I battle rust. It bleeds from every pore, top, bottom, and inside. My trucks are both western rust free examples, one has been professionally taken apart and painted with base/clear, and I battle rust ALL the time. The other is being taken apart for the same treatment. Ive had 6 of these trucks, and never had any significant problem with anything other than rust. AHHHHHGGGG!

Re: Whats The Biggest Problems With Your Truck?

that it is in the body shop getting repainted and i will be worried about the first door ding or scratch.

72 Suburban, 402 auto, barn doors. getting repainted original medium olive green, a stock look with quality tires.

it will be my summer car, so maybe i can keep the South Dakota rust at bay for awhile.

Re: Whats The Biggest Problems With Your Truck?

I daily drive my truck in the summer months and havent had any breakdowns or problems. After looking for quite a few years I paid the money when I bought the truck five years ago. I go for the gusto when I replace something and buy new parts.
Last year when I decided to checked my front brakes the pads had about 30% left. I replaced them and also put new rotors, hoses and bearings even thought my buddy who did the job said they were okay.
I believe that preventive maintenance saves money in the long run.

my neutral saftey switch is touchy somedays, you have to run the shifter through the gears untill it finds a sweet spot, but somedays it works perfect.

Re: Whats The Biggest Problems With Your Truck?

from a mechanical view the 67 thru 72 truck's are just like all other gm products of that era they are all but bullet proof !! the thing's will run forever they are super easy to work on mechanical parts are dirt cheap they are just the best vehicles ever made !!
the one and only problem with ALL of them is RUST if it wasn't for that they would have been perfect!!

Re: Whats The Biggest Problems With Your Truck?

My truck was rock solid until I started modifying it with a 350 and 700R4. Still, not bad for a 39 year old.

Your poll is missing an option.

The only problem with my truck is the owner - he doesn't have enough time to work on it

Re: Whats The Biggest Problems With Your Truck?

Since I bought my truck nearly 2 years ago, I have had few problems. I replaced the motor because I got one for cheap, the fuel pump went out (and I think my new one is having issues), I burned up a wheel bearing (I never even looked at them, my fault), and I blew a tire (they were very old and should have been replaced when I bought it).

I have been upgrading things as parts need replacing. I added HEI right off the bat and it's been all down hill from there. I would say for the most part it has been very toruble free considering what I have spent on it.

Re: Whats The Biggest Problems With Your Truck?

My headers have a hole in them somewhere. I am going to have to take them off and take a picture of them and compare them to the new ones online to see which ones I need. ('67/454/th400) They are the long ones.
