New Member, Old Blazer
Hey Guys! I'm new to this forum and new to trucks. This is my 1970 K5 Blazer.
It has pretty long history which won't all be in this post. At the moment it doesn't have any engine or tranny but they are to come soon. This Blazer has axels from a late 70's 3/4 ton. I'm putting a sm465 and a np205 from a '71 GMC and possibly if I get it, a 350 from a 69 GMC. This truck needs alot of work and I have more time than money. I'm in it for a long haul. Evan

Re: New Member, Old Blazer
Thanx for the comments guys! I only wish the paint was perfect. Its hard to see if your not looking but the rockers are rusted out and the floor is pretty bad too. I'll fill you in with the rest of the story.
My Uncle owned this truck about eight years ago. He brought it into the city to get it painted. And it was stored in the shops gated compound with another vehicle parked in front of it. But somehow someone managed to move the other vehicle and steal his Blazer. Fast forward about five years. My Uncle was looking for some property which had some sheds on them. So he went to take a look, and what do ya know. There sits his Blazer off the frame sitting on the ground. So he calls the RCMP and they contact the owner of the land, who has been living in B.C. for a couple years. He claims he never came back and doesn't know what happining on his property. So in the end, no one was charged. The RCMP called in Dr. Hook to tow the truck home, even though my Uncle was a towtruck driver. They didn't even let him watch them hook it up. Dr. Hook hooked it up on the wrong spot and f'd up the grill, rad support and the right fender. My Uncle than proceded to take them to court and lost, even though tow truck drivers have special insurance if they mess up like this. My Uncle had no time or money to fix it so it sat for a bunch of years until I got it. Heres a pick when we were towing it home. Evan

Re: New Member, Old Blazer
Awesome to have history on the K5. What are your plans for the engine - any mods, or just get it running for now? Great to have another member on the board.

Re: New Member, Old Blazer
Any chance your blazer was sitting in the back yard of a farm on Hwy 59?
And was it for sale about 3 or 4 years ago?

Re: New Member, Old Blazer
You bet thats where its from. Thats my Grandparents farm. Did you used to live in the area or did you see an ad? It would have been nice to start fixing it along time ago but a couple things held me back. 1. I've really only had a job for 1 year, in which I used to buy my Ducati. 2. I'm only turning 18 this november and never had the knowledge or the drive to do this before.
As for Yukon Jack's question, I really am just trying to find a strong 350 to put in it. I have a couple doners I'm looking at right now. Both the tranny and transfer case I have to rebuild. I'll probibly have a fun thim doing that. lol Evan

I stopped and took a close look at it when it was for sale and talked to your gramps about it.He wanted $4 grand for back then, and in my eye's it was not worth it...too much work,no eng,no trans, just the 3/4ton running gear. Hope you picked it up at a good price...good luck fixin it up.

Re: New Member, Old Blazer
Well actually I've never been to DisneyWorld. lol. And I don't think he had to pay for the tow job. At the time the price was so high because it wasn't insured when it was stolen, and I'm sure he was just trying to get a little bit of money from it. My Uncle and Grandpa have since died, and my Grandma wanted to see something done with it. So I got it for quite less. Grandchildrens discount
