Small Block Distributor casting

Guys,

I need some help identifing a distributor in my 68' GMC shortbed. The truck has a small block. The distributor casting number 1111180 is this distributor correct for the truck? I'm trying to buy a mechanical advance curve kit for the truck and there are two varieties (those distributors manufactured before 69' and those points unit manufactured after . . . 69- 74') With the truck being over 30yrs old, and not having the original motor . . . anything is possible.

I know, I know, I should put HEI in this truck . . . I've put a Petronix kit in the distributor already and like the way it performs.

Does anyone show this casting number in a 'Chevy By the Numbers' reference type book?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Dave.

Re: Small Block Distributor casting

My book does not list the number 1111180 but it does list some distributors with numbers on either side of your distributor. Distributor 1111152 is out of a 66 327 truck second production and distributor 1111193 is out of a 66 327 truck third production.

The number 1111180 appears to fall into the 66 year because of its sequence.
