Big Block Guys - Valvecover question for you:

I'm in the middle of getting my new 509" crate motor ready to go into my 1972 GMC-1500. Question for you guys: Will the OEM/stock / well...repops from classic industries... bbc valve covers fit with roller rockers? The engine has aluminum scorpion roller rockers in it. Looks like a ~2.5" from the top of the lock nut on the rocker to the top of the valve cover rail on the head.

I'd like to use as OEM looking of a valvecover as I can without having clearance problems.

Thanks!

I've Had Em Fit Ok With Roller Tipped Rockers, But With Full Roller Rockers I've Had To Use Taller Valve Covers. John

no you can not fit full roller rockers under stock valve covers...You can try to double up on the thick gasket or you can get a valve cover spacer from like Moroso, Stef's or Milodon...one of those guys not sure whom though....

you can buy spacers from jeggs or summit, some one relly looking would probably spot them though

It's ok if someone really looking sees them, I'm not trying to sneak really, I just like the stock look. The engine has an edelbrock intake on it, just trying to decide whether to paint/powdercoat that to match the motor in chevy orange. I was thinking that the stock style valvecovers and coating the intake would make for a neat look..and create some controversy.

Did the big block trucks have the same air cleaner assembly as the small block trucks, or was it unique?

Thanks for the scoop on the valvecovers...I'll see what I can come up with. I don't want to double up gaskets if I can help it since that just sounds like a leak waiting to happen.
