Converting 6cyl speedo to 8?
Okay, so like everyone else I'm trying to get a tach in the cluster. Mine being a kitbashing project, the '91s get the electric speedo and the late-style font while the tach I've laid hands on looks to be out of an '85 Blazer 4x4 - correct font, perfect cosmetic condition, but it's a 6cyl tach.
Does anyone know of an easy conversion (swapping a couple resistors on the circuit board, or a convenient/reasonably cheap source for 8cyl tach circuit boards, or...) for this? Or am I dependent on the tender mercies of the local (very good, but quite expensive) speedo shop? Last edited by JEM; 10-03-2006 at 08:03 PM. |

Why not get a 88-94 cluster with tach? Easier and prolly cheaper.

The '91 is a bit of an oddball - although it's the earlier design it's got the electronic speedo. Looks like I can swap the tach/fuel gauge from the '80s Blazer cluster into my Sub cluster without drama. The tach is now down at Palo Alto Speedometer, we'll see what they can do for it... |
