Re: factory radio?

Put me in line as interested in your original radio if he passes on it. Got a 79 with AM radio that doesn't work. Is your radio functional?

Re: factory radio?

I think you are looking for a Custom Autosound radio...right? DO a Google search and you will find them. I have heard not-so-good reviews on them however, so do your homework before you fork over the money.

I myself will be bringing a newer model AM/FM ('78 model I believe) to a local audio shop and having all new modern guts put in it. It will look and feel like an old radio, but sound MUCH better. Depending on cost, I also want to have the ability to run a CD changer off of it...so we'll see.

Jeff--if you can get an ipod adapter or mp3 connection I highly reccommend it over the changer. I have one in my Burb and it's the best thing ever. just my opinion. . .

Re: factory radio?

worked here too i think it is a great idea. Also did they cut the metal part of the dash to instal the cd like they did on mine. If so it might not hold the original right

Re: factory radio?

Are you looking for one like this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Delco...09187781QQrdZ1

Or one like this which uses the flop down cassette mechanism that I will no longer work on.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vinta...25343882QQrdZ1

Delco also made a digital cassette radio that will fit in a 1975. The junkyard called them Cadillac radios but the Cadillac radio had longer stems for the knobs. I have not seen one of these in a long time and can’t find one on ebay.

Disclaimer: These ebay links are for the picture only I know nothing about the radio or seller.
I am new here and don’t want to get in trouble.

Re: factory radio?

honestly, i dont know what radio came stock. i'd prefer whatever radio came stock in a 75 silverado, but i don't know which one it is. the PO took the radio out, hacked the dash and put in a cd player, but i'm buying a new deck and mounting it in the glove box so i need to make a bezel or a plate to re-mount a stock radio as the opening is too big now

if anyone could grab a pic, part # or whatever of the correct radio that would be much appreciated as well
