chirping noise in TH350

My TH350 makes a chirping noise when I'm accelerating. Whether I'm going down a country road, going down the highway, everywhere. It sounds like I have a flock of birds in my tranny. Anybody know what I can do about this noise? I keep checking the fluid and making sure it's full, but it still does it. Thanks in advance,

I'm in the same boat as you man. I just spent today dropping the pan and checking things out. I've been told two possible things that could cause the noise would be either the converter or the front pump. When inspecting my fluid, it looked pretty clean. The bottom of the pan wasn't covered in metal shavings or chunks. How much do front pumps cost anyway?

Sure its in the transmission? Chirping driveline usually leads to a dry or failing U-Joint.

it sure sounds like it's coming from the front end of the cab, not near the driveshaft. I'll hafta have a friend listen closely next time, to make sure where its comin from.

I can't speak for Alvin, but the noise for me happens when in park and in drive..... so not the u-joints. I trouble shot the best I could so far, it isn't any of my accessories making the noise. I just took off the oil filter today and I'm gonna cut it open to see if theres excessive metal on the element. Other than that, I think its getting close to dropping the trans and having someone look at it for me.

are your bolts tight in the torque converter?, a cracked flexplate can also make that sound.

Could be the coverter not the front pump. Chech the U-joints and the rear u-joint straps, mine clicked for 2 days just before it snaped and thew off the rear shaft, at 4 in the morning. Check your U-joint clips to see that there all there.

Why would the u-joints have anything to do with it if the truck was in park and still making noise?

putting it under load will cause it. If your in park and just reving it up, then go check your belts.

I assumed it was while you are moving like the other problem was decribed.

If you can hear it when starting and idling mainly, then check the convertor bolts. If you hear it mainly when put into gear (at idle) and any low RPM's it could be a cracked flywheel.
