Stock Height
Does anyone know the stock height of our trucks?? I have a 71 SWB I want to lower it the right way and have to figure out what the original height was and where to measure to.
Guy I bought it from heated the coils and the ride is kinda bouncy (more than I think would be normal)and I get a shimmy at about 65mph. I've seen a pic of this somewhere but I cant remember where, seems to me it was 32" and 34" but I cant remember where to measure to on the body. Thanks! Brian

It's going to be hard to get an accurate measurement going from the ground to a point on the body. The only way this would work out for you is if you either have the same tire size as stock, or you can compensate for the difference in tire size. The guys at Early Classic claim a 6" drop spring will leave 3" of clearance between the frame and the axle tube. If this is true we can assume at stock height you would have 9" of clearance. My 6" drop left me with about 2.5" or 2.75" of clearance but my spray in bedliner may be giving it that extra little drop. If you go to www.earlyclassic.com they have stance photos of stock height and several levels of drop.
