I made it!!with pics this time

Hey guys, I made it back from Ga. I looked liked the beverly hillbillys. I bought a 68 swb fleetside off ebay. When I went down there, The guy said you can have everything here for a 67 -72 chevy gmc truck for such price. With a little thinking and looking at what he had. I bought it all or all I could fit on my truck and trailer. I now have a 454 bb long block 400 sb block only350 sb block only . 2 67 68 grills 2 67 68 hoods. 2 short fleet beds which are in really solid shape. a couple of sets of doors. and a few other things. I will have to get pictures later. Now that I have a big block to work with I might be putting it in my ride. I was going to put a 383 stroker in but now I don't know.

Re: I made it!!

look at the prices for everything you'll need on that big block before you decide to go that route. Everything from carb to pan, and from flywheel to fan. You'll probably start to cry.

IT COSTS ME TWICE AS MUCH TO BUILD A BIG BLOCK AS IT DOES TO BUILD A SMALL BLOCK... SO WHAT... YOU WIND UP WITH THREE Xs THE MOTOR TOO. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY.... WELL YOU CAN'T PLAY EITHER. I KNOW... I KNOW.... THE JUNKYARDS ARE JUST FULL OF $200 CADDY MOTORS... I WONDER WHY??? JOHN

Congrats on your score. Good to hear that all the good deals aren't a 1000 miles away.

Re: I made it!!

No, i wasn't even going there, I've seen plenty of times, where the coolness factor of a big block gets in the way and then you end up way over budget. Big block chevy parts are stupid expensive, and there is no way to deny that.

Re: I made it!!

As for the the big block parts I will need. It is only missing an intake. I have the heads, flywheel balancer oilpan etc.. And I also got a boat load of Holley parts. Now the brackets that I would need for the acc. Doesn't have air. but it does have power steering. any body know how hard these parts are hard these parts are to get.

Yeah guys didn't you know that is was a RARE factory defect?? some how the stamping die was put in backwards and only a few defective tailgates got out of the factory.
No really the guy I bought it off of, is a body fabricator and he cut the panel and flipped it over for the same effect it is having on here already. I am most likely going to leave it that way.

Re: I made it!!

Now that tailgate is different! It would take a while to decide on that one. Or is this just proof that it pays to always wear a respirator?
