fuel pump -- stock or aftermarket HiPo
I'm gaving problems getting fuel to my Edelbrock 600cfm and need to replace -- here's the dilemma ... When should I upgrade to an aftermaket 7-8 psi mechanical vs the stock 3-4 psi mechanical pump OR even electric ?!!!
Yes, my engine is slightly modified : intake, headers, cam, exhaust, HEI ... Let me know what you think.

My 350 has been modded and the stock fuel pump does fine getting fuel to my Edelbrock 1406 carb.

When my fuel pump works, the stock one is fine. I replaced it a few months ago and it's acting up again.

You "should" be fine with the stocker pump. I had a pretty decent 383 with a stock pump on it and it ran fine. On my current small block I went with a low pressure(5-6psi) Carter pump and love it.
When you say it's acting up what do you mean? Do you have any bends in the line? Also, if you have a 90 degree fitting coming out of the pump to the carb you're loosing up to 30 percent flow. Try a radial mandrel bent one if you don't already have one. |

I'd give Eldebrock a call - seems most carbs are happy with the stock pressure. I believe the quadrajets actually have problems when you get to higher pressure than stock.

You don't want to raise the pressure on an edelbrock either, some stock fuel pumps have too much pressure.
Get a stock replacement, you'll be fine. |

What do you mean by a mandral radial bent line ..... a line that has more of a rounded , flowing bent vs a sharp 90 off the pump ? THANKS !
