Re: tail lights on 64 driving me insane
sounds like a ground problem make sure the housing is grounded where the screws are it is usually rusty and doesn't ground, if you have to, run a good ground to the light housing with a piece of wire

Re: Brake lights
check your turn signals & see if they work. If the emergency flasher is broken or missing neither the turn signals nor the brake lights will work.

Re: tail lights on 64 driving me insane
on my 64, I had to rewire new grounds from the battery to the front frame, from the front frame to the inner cab and from the rear frame to each tail light housing...
also my own truck, as far as the 'custom' wiring jobs of many many folks since 64... In a nutshell -- everything that I saw had a groundwire, got a new wire, and a new, clean ground contact point... Everything works as it should now...

Re: tail lights on 64 driving me insane
Yep............In these old trucks grounds are important..........Had the same problems with my burb.................Fixed the parking lights with a ground...............had to replace the turnsignal switch to fix the brake light problem..................A current tester was a very handy thing to have to figure all this out...........good-luck.................Hemmit
