Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Mine is a one family truck, I was with my dad when he bought it new in Nov. of 70 in North Carolina (Wilmington I think). He was in the Marine Corp at the time and had his own shop as a mechanic nights and weekends, We moved to Seattle in the truck in 72. I was five at the time but now a days I envision that we must have looked like the Beverly Hill Billies. Home made canopy, old home built car trailer with a 65 Nova and furniture and misc. Sh!~ hanging everywhere off it. My dad drove the truck till about 1988. He then gave it to my younger brother who put the 327/TB350 combo in it that it still has today. He moved to Arizona and took it with him in 2002. He towed his race car with it till he bought the D-MAX. At that point I claimed it as my father daughter/son project and it has been in my garage since. I've taken it down to the bare frame, Put new floors and Kick panels. I'd like to put a LS-1 in it and make a street rod out of it. Time and money will tell.

Here's ol Blue in about 1978. My brother is the short one. The kid in the blue coat is still my best friend to this day and as usual I'm the one under the car working.

When my truck was new, it was 2 years before my birth

Sad but true, it's doing better at 37 than I am at 35

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Almost a one family truck. I'm just not positive my grandpa bought it new or not. I think it must have been 73 or so when he bought it. My dad got ot a couple years later then I took over in 1983. My son of course has claimed all rights to it for the next generation. My daughters don't have much interest. They both like VW Beetles. Poor things...

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Well Mine is a one family truck also My Great Grandfoather bought it brand new just out side Monroe WA in 1971 then gave it to my Grandmother and Grand father in 1982 so they could use it on the farm in KY that I grew up on. I drove the truck in high school did a poor resto on it my senior year with my Grand father about 2 years after my Great grand dad passed. I went into the Air Force and just two years ago my grandfather and grandmother signed her over and I took her apart MaY 2005. Lord williing I hope to have her to the paint stage by Next spring.

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Mine's a 1-family as well. Wife's g'pa bought it new in '72, wanted all the "truck" options w/ no frills, which to him was a 4wd, 350, lwb 1/2 ton. Her dad took it hunting a few times a year, then she drove it to school in high school, when we met. Had to marry her to make sure the truck stayed in good hands .

Still working on getting her roadworthy (truck, not wife); Another $500 in bumpers and grill work and I'll be "done", with this phase at least.

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Hey ol blue , is that pic taken at SIR ? It sure looks like the entrance road .
If it is that's where my best buddy and i were in '78 , racing a bb 68 el camino , we couldn't even afford a nice trailer like yours , we had to drive there , with 4.56 gears , lol . Don't see too many guys doing that anymore .
I'd like to see your truck sometime , i bet it's nice .

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

nice replies and pics. i guess i can say my '72 is a 1 family truck. my grandfather bought it new. mama dogged the crap out of it in high school. then pop had it painted and did some interior work in the late '80's, he might've even put the in 350 i pulled out at the time as well. then he parked it in about '91. it sat till about may of 2005 when i got it out and started fixing it. so far i've just done an engine swap, and some other things to get it driveable after sitting for so long. the last time pop had it out of the garage was in about '95 or '96. i think i was around 10 years old at the time. he went out there and powershifted 2nd and 3rd gear between the driveways with little me sitting right beside him. lol. i still remember what he said when he did that. "boy, i ought not to have showed you that." with a grin on his face. ya'll got some great projects and even sweeter rides with a lot of history. good luck with them. thanks for sharing.

jhow 50 years... wow. you are competing for some type of record there. i hope i look that good when i'm 50. lol

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Well my truck is no where near a 1 owner, but I will be the last owner of this truck. I went through a lot to get it and I will never sell it. It may be in rough condition but you don't see ads for 69 GMC 4x4's in the paper too often, especially for $900.

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Well my father took delivery of it in Feb of '71 and I was born in June of same year. I have had it for the last 3-4 years. He was going to sell it and I told him HELL NO! I had plans for that truck when you were dead! So he trailered it out to me. Original Az. truck.

Blacktruck I wish my "frame" was in as good shape as the '56. Not much you can do to a brokedown 71 year old one.

Re: how many 1 owners we got here?

Like Palf70step I am the second owner of my K-2500. I have all the paperwork and protecto plate where the PO bought it and made a copy of the title in his name showing "new" in the new used box. I have no plans of selling it.

Almost. My dad bought it in 1969. It was one year old, and had less than 12,000 miles on it. He was about to buy a new one, but found this one for sale, and liked it better then the new one had had picked out. I was 5 at the time, and still remember him buying it.
