'59 3sp to a automatic question
i have a 59 apache with a sb 400 and a 3sp manual trans.
i am looking to switch to a automatic that can handle the close to 500 hp the engine is putting out, my question is do i need to do anything to the crossmember or will a turbo 350 lay in place. i know i will have to have the drive shaft worked but was hoping everything else would bolt up. thanks for any help dave |

Re: '59 3sp to a automatic question
I am not sure about the 59 crossmember, but on some late model car I have done that swap and I don't think we did anything to the crossmember. I believe the TH350 and 3/4 speeds are the same length. If you don't need it in a hurry give it a shot, if you are looking to do it in a weekend then maybe some more research is in order. Good luck.

Re: '59 3sp to a automatic question
Hallo
On my 59 Apache the threespeed manual was supported in front at the bellhousing. So the thing was to mount a new crossmember. // Anders |
