Brake help!
Was looking over my 69 getting it road worthy, found the rear pot in the master cylinder to be bone dry. What i'm wondering is, if the rear pot is for the front or rear brakes? The front pot is filled to the top and the front has been converted to disc brakes.
Anyone have an idea? What's the first thing to leak on these trucks on the drum setups? The wheel cylinders or are the lines prone to leaking? Wondering because I want to make a trip saturday to chevy duty to get the parts I need.

Re: Brake help!
Rear pot is for the rear brakes. If there are no big leaks from the lines, suspect the wheel cylinders, Also your master cylinder could be leaking out the back, down the firewall, is paint missing there? or into the brake booster if it has one.

There is a fairly good sized rust spot on my firewall to the left of the mc if you're looking directly at it. Think it's my master cyl?

Re: Brake help!
Put some brake fluid in it and find the leak.

Kinda difficult, the truck is a half hour away.
Trying to get a basic diagnosis here.

Re: Brake help!
If your looking for a quick check st1x10 has it right, if you have a major leak. If your looking to make it ROAD WORTHY and safe, a basic diagnosis is to inspect and evaluate the system from one end to the other and that would be to jack up all four corners and pull all four wheels and drums off (where applicable) and inspect everything from the pedal to all four corners. You could have a rotted steel brake line or a split brake hose which would show up right away or you could have a leaky rear wheel cylinder(s) or master cylinder and that may take weeks/months for the pot to dry up.
