1 ton brakes
trying to find info on swapping my drums for discs. I have a '69 1 ton with drums on the front and I was told that 3/4 ton disc brakes will not work on my truck. Do I need to find a newer 1 ton with disc brakes to achieve my goal? Thanks

Re: 1 ton brakes
I've Yet To Get Around To Putting It In, But I've Got A Whole Front Cross Member & All The Steering Up To & Including The Steering Box Off Of An 85 I Ton. This Is For My 69 1 Ton Tow Truck. It'll Go In During The Next Motor Swap. It Seems Like It Was $120 From A Pick -n- Pull Boneyard. Beware... There Heavy Suckers. John

Re: 1 ton brakes
Do you know for a fact that the 85 front crossmember will fit? I've read that the 1/2 ton trucks are a pretty simple job just re-drilling a few holes, but never heard about doing this to a 1 ton.
What are you doing for the booster and master cylinder? |

Re: 1 ton brakes
I used a 89 1ton front susp under my 69. I had to redrill the 4 holes on the side of the frame because the 89 used a bigger bolt. But other than that it bolted right in.

Re: 1 ton brakes
The 89 had a hydro boost on it. So I used it , the 89 master cyl, prop valve & brake lines. Had to modify the brake pedal for the hydro boost.
