why does my engine bogg down when i jump on it?

Today when i took her out, and eventhough i replaced my ACCEL with a higher output one, i still am getting a bogging down sound and acceleration when i jump on it, is there something simple i can check or what?

Re: why does my engine bogg down when i jump on it?

On the holley carb in our camaro we had to go to a larger accelerator pump nozzle to correct for a bog when slamming the throttle. We went from a .031 to a .035 if I remember correctly.

If you go to www.holley.com and look on page 29 of their avenger carb catalog it has an excellent description and pic.

Re: why does my engine bogg down when i jump on it?

If changing the accelrator pump doesn't pan out you can also check the voltage regulator. My truck would bogg on acceleration untill I changed mine. Turns out that it wasn't keeping the 12v signal at 12v. (HEIs hate that.)

Re: why does my engine bogg down when i jump on it?

interesting! that would be an easier and cheaper fix for sure and then i should check the condition of that second wire running down to the starter?
