What did you get done this weekend

I don't see a weekend thread so I guess I'll start one.

It was a messed up weekend. If anyone has looked in GD I have a prayer thread in there about my mother in law. As the situation develops I had to get my wife onto a plane Saturday morning so she could be with her mother in her last days.

I did get a few things done afterwards (staying busy helps.)

I put up a new chandelier in the dining room and replaced a hallway light fixture, watched Tony Stewert make a mockery of the chase format, watched the Redskins fail to loose to the Cowboys (despite their best efforts to do so) and cleaned up a huge mess of remodeling debris in the back yard.

I also got my truck running again. I had no spark. After doing some measurments I discovered that although I had 14v on one side of the Batt conector to the distributer I only had 8v where it actually conected to the distributer.

I replaced the conector and presto! She fired up cold and ran better than she has since I got her.

Re: What did you get done this weekend

I went and looked at a bunch of trucks with another forum member, cleaned up the vehicles and put them away for the winter, started cleaning out the shop (where did I get all this stuff anyway!), Took the headers off of the white truck to see if I can find my exhaust leak but they look good. Maybe I'll go ahead and put new ones on as long as I have them off.... So at least I got something done.

Re: What did you get done this weekend

Worked on brakes, adjusted my carrier bearing so it didn't rub and squeak on my driveshaft. Discovered that my rear axle u-bolts were all loose, and rusted real good, so I soaked them for a couple of days then cranked em down. Before I was done, I tightened up the covers on the back of my transfer case to stop some driveway leaks. Since I cleaned all the old grime off, I have discovered lots of new leaks. The PO says I'm taking away the character

installed new under dash wiring harness, installed new tach cluster, and swapped my steering column for a tilt unit, removed seat to install my houndstooth covers, other than that it was a lazy weekend! lol

Re: What did you get done this weekend

i put about 16 miles on my truck this weekend. That's 8 times more than i have every driven it.

gonna get plates and insurance this week some time.

I'm really trying to decide if i should just tear it down and slowly build it back up, or if i should do it part by part, or wait until i have a good pile of parts to put on it.

either way, it won't see snow/salt this winter.

Re: What did you get done this weekend

ram van - are those stock and you just cleaned and painted or did you do some upgrading with aftermarket parts? I'm trying to decide if i want to go tubular or just re-store what i've got with new oem parts. which way did you go?

Re: What did you get done this weekend

Nothing truck related, as usual

But is did manage to get the interior of my snowmobile trailer done. I bought a plain Jane model and then insulated and finished the inside to my liking. Added a heater, cabinet, nice bright walls and ceiling, extra lights inside and loading lights on 3 sides outside, and it's own battery with outlets. Just need to finish up a few minor electrical issues, install a stereo, and I am off sledding this weekend!!!!!!!!!

Then, hopefully soon, I will be taking it down to ChevyDude to get GatorHyde sprayed on the floor!

Re: What did you get done this weekend

Boise69 I had everything sandblasted, frame, crossmember, & control arms. I bought upper and lower control arm shafts, drop spindels, ball joints, tie rods ends rubber stops, bolts, bolts, and more bolts, and on and on and on. Basically anything that moved is new.

Re: What did you get done this weekend

do you / did you have a one stop source for all of this? Because i'm thinking tubular but on the other hand doing exactly what you just stated you've done. did you weigh both options to?

Re: What did you get done this weekend

For the past 3 weekends I've insulated the ceiling and walls in my garage, then hung 24 sheets of 12' sheetrock. This past weekend I taped all the joints and hopefully by the end of the week I'll have it in primer and ready to paint. Then...I can get back on my real project! I hate doing drywall!!!

Re: What did you get done this weekend

Drove my pickup for about 1/2 hour and developed an electrical problem. Radio lost power and then I noticed a discharge on the amp meeter. Looked under the dash and "YUCK". Whoever wired the air pump-air bags, radio, etc. use red wire to do everything.
What a pain.
