I know ECC makes these brackets for stock and lowered applications, but when using with airbags, which ones do I use? CPP says stock, any ideas or experiences here???

I used the lowered one on my bagged truck.

You can use the lowered ones, or don't use any at all. You can bolt the bushing clamps directly to the frame. You just want to make sure the bushing on the control arm doesn't bind up....

Thanks guys for the responses. I may go without brackets. I just didn't know if there would be a problem when I aired out or with clearances elswhere.

depending on which sway bar you go with, you will probably need to install the taller bracket in order to drop the mounting position of the bar.... this will keep your ends aligned better......

So, just to clarify on this point:

In my '68, I'm running bagged with 2.5" drop spindles.
I have a stock swaybar from a 73-87 pickup/van.
I have the "raised" swaybar brackets from ECE ($19).

This setup will work with no problems?

I keep seeing all these pictures of people using some aftermarket swaybar with holes in the ends that bolt to a Q-Tip looking contraption with bushings. I just wanted to make sure I'm not looking for trouble or anything

Those are ART's new 'end-link' design to minimize binding w/air suspension travel limits.

It looks like CPP has a similar unit, I imagine ECE does as well.

Can you define "binding" for me? I'm tryin to assess whether this is going to be a genuine problem for me.

The end of the bar get's shifted to extreme angles & forces the bushings to be mis-aligned w/the bushing bracket that bolts to the a-arm.

Well, that sucks

Is the only side effect premature fatigue of the bushings mounted to the conrol arm? Or is there some other more serious issue to worry about - like, twisting control arms, not being able to 'lay out' or otherwise?

I believe it was Frizzle Fry that posted the FAQ on mounting the sway bar directly to the frame. I'm not bagging my truck, yet...., but I'm planning on mounting the bar directly to the frame when I do lower my truck.

Scoti was the first one that I know of on here to go direct mount. That was before ECE offered the shorter brackets. Besides, Scoti was too ...uh ...frugal... to buy custom brackets....

I used original brackets and just placed my sway bar inside of the brackets instead of under. Worked like a charm.

i cut the back off my brackets and turned them around so it wold move the bushing up to the frame and still keep it out of a bind.

That's a great set-up. You can only go so low with them mounted directly to the frame. I had to make brackets for mine after I bagged it.

I didn't. Mine were bolted directly to the frame w/5+" of front drop. I'm not sure how it will be now w/a Dropmember up front (haven't had the a-arms installed long enough to figure it all out).

When you figure out the swaybar, let us know. It looks like you could use the stock outer hole and drill another. That's w/stock arms- if you're using ARTs, I dunno...

effectively, the ECE bracket puts them in the same place, and a pair of brackets is less than $20, so I had them work it into my 5-lug axle order!
