Unhappy Grr...I don't need this now...

Well, I'm doing a week-long job on my truck...the main portion of which is putting a 700R4 in place of the THM400...but another big part is getting the radiator cleaned out.

So I just finished flushing it out...and I'm seeing oil in the coolant. Looks like I get to do head gaskets on top of everything else...

Goodie goodie. Once you pull those heads check to see if you've got any cracks along a bore...

Project1970 Glad to see your back up on your feet again and working on your truck. No more of those dirty thoughts about not buying another pickup if your mom took yours, okay! Why are you swapping out the turbo 400, for the 7000R4's overdrive, or did you have problems with the turbo 400?

Thanks Jared

I need the O/D, that's all. This 400 has been bulletproof since I had it installed nearly 20,000 miles ago.

Oh well...I've been meaning to do stuff like this for a long time...just why did it have to happen now...

Har, it looks so empty in there now...no radiator, shroud, air filter, carb, or intake manifold...

Remember the ticking noise I posted about earlier?

It was a lifter.

Has to be. I haven't pulled any lifters yet to inspect...but the number 7 exhaust pushrod had end-to-end play, quite a bit, whereas none of the others did...and when I pulled its rocker off, it's hammered. I don't know yet how much I'm going to need, aside from at least a new lifter and rocker. At least, if I need to, I do have a spare exhaust valve sitting around from when the cam went...
