Wheel Polishing
I was just wondering what you guys used to polish your wheels. I have used mothers cheap stuff and some Eagle One stuff that i kind of like. But I want something that can really get my back wheels to shine up like the front ones. I neglected the things for quite a while and living on gravel roads doesn't help. The front ones still look pretty good but the back ones are just a little duller.
All help is appreciated. Thanks. Kevin

Re: Wheel Polishing
If they are polished with no clearcoat. California Customs Purple and Oxidizer. You can only call to oder or get it online. They do not sale it in stores. I have tried just about everything and this is pretty much hands down the best IMO.

Re: Wheel Polishing
If you have any large truck stops near you go look for a bottle of speedy. I have used this on aluminum fuel tanks and the like on big trucks. So far it is the best thing short of wet sanding and polishing with jewelers rouge. Polish with speedy and dust with corn starch and wipe off all the residue.

Re: Wheel Polishing
I for sure will not be buying any more polished aluminum wheels. What a PITA to take care of. Show rig is fine but on a driver is a lot of work to keep up.
If they are too far gone for just polish, use some 2000 gt sandpaper wet to start with and then some rubbing compound like 3M Perfect It II Fine or Regular cut and a 3" wool buffing pad or one of the Mothers red sponge balls, the long shaft one works best, and buff them back out followed up with the polish of your choice. This will get them "respectable" but if your after the "chrome" look, your in for some serious work with rouge and bobb's. Wally World has some good polish I used on some old Centerlines,I'll have to get back on it's name and Southern Shine has some mail order that is good. |

Re: Wheel Polishing
I use wenol the first time and after that, Mothers power ball and Mothers wheel polish. They stay nice for a month or more and mine's a DD. If they have knicks take them out with the 2000 grit wet or dry with a little dishsoap in the water then do as above. I know some people don't like alum. wheels but I don't have any probs keeping them nice.
