Re: Any interest in a detailed late model seat install??
I just got these on Ebay ($20) and hope to install them in my 68. There are other threads that show the install but more is always good. These are 2nd row from 2000 burb, only problem that I have heard of is that they sit a little high, nothing a cuttoff wheel and welder cant fix. The one's that have integrated seat belts are nice but you need to reinforce the floor from the bottom or you will eject in a crash...

Re: Any interest in a detailed late model seat install??
if they bolt into the stock holes then no biggy, seat belts are still going to be mounted in normal spot for now. If I decide to add shoulder harness then it will need reinforced. I probably will since it's an older truck and I am a big guy....

Re: Any interest in a detailed late model seat install??
I agree Wibill. You can't just go down to your nearest truck dealer and try one on to see how you fit. Of all the thousands of pics I have viewed on these forums I can't remember ever seeing anyone sitting in the drivers seat with the door open. You know so you can see how close everything is with a much more padded seat installed. I also am considering that second row Burb seat for my 69 step. It sure is padded nice and the fold up bottom is good for a small bit of storage. A bonus.
72 Dually, go ahead and snap a couple if you would. I think we'd all like to see em. thanks. Boog.

Re: Any interest in a detailed late model seat install??
I'm 6'3 so my pics won't help, I don't fit in anything!!!!
I am also looking into the tilt column or moving mine forward to gain room. I have a stick shift so it should be hard. |

I am interested. What did the seats cost you...the" late model tahoe/yukon 2nd row seat" you mentioned.

One thing to keep in mind is the 1999 and earlier 2nd row seats have the wide floor mounting. This seats out of a 2002 tahoe, but suburban is the same. If Im not mistaken the Yukon has the big headrests, which I dont care for. 2001-2007 have the same mounting, possibly the 2000 too, but I cant say for sure. Seeing how there's some interest, I'll make sure to take a bunch of photo's There will be some mods needed, but I've learned a few tricks on the height issue's, by playing around in the boneyards with other makes, and models

Re: Any interest in a detailed late model seat install??
Nice looking seats. I'd be interested in how narrow they are compared to a stock bench. I have seen a few that look to be about 3-4" narrower on each end than a stock bench.

Re: Any interest in a detailed late model seat install??
msgross, i added a van tilt and pusshed it foward till it hits the cluster and with stock bench seat i still like it all the way up so its not right on my lap. it is a must to tip it up for ingress , egress and i'm only 5'9" and a buck 70 and have the newer smaller wheel, so i beleave any seat close to the factory bench height is just to tall but i don't want anything too low to loose visibality
