Cool 69 C-10 Step - WIW

Hey!

I'm sneaking in from the 73-87 side.

I helped a friend trailer a horse this past Sunday, and lo, in her driveway her fiancé has a 69 C-10 Stepside - FOR SALE!!

Now, I've been looking for something streetable that I can also take to the street drags every month. And this may just be the ticket. Paint's in decent shape - a dark blue, or maybe purple, (I'm colorblind and didn't ask) No major body issues. But, the grill is painted black an pretty ding'd up. Wood in bed is see-thru. Has nice wheels and is lowered a bit with a nice rake. This guy races a 81 Monte (I think) on the local dirt roundy's, and knows his SBC's - So I'm guessing there's a healthy small block in there with duals coming out in front of the rear tires (Right where I like it!!)

I shoulda got pics. And will. But I won't see him or the truck until I get home from Turkey Day Visits next Sunday.

He's asking $3500. But, SHE says hell do me better. I REALLY Like this and would love a great deal.

What should I look for and how much should I offer?

Thanks for your help!

- Dave

Re: 69 C-10 Step - WIW

If it's lowered proper (not heated coils, but actual drop coils or something) and the cab supports are rust free, then I could see maybe $2500? I would think it your area rust isn't much of an issue, so a rust-free rig doesn't count for much IMO.

If it's a solid runner with a good motor, I would say $2500 would be ok. I'm a cheap bastard and a lot of my friends have paid way too much for trucks that ended up needing way too much work.
