To Repair Or....not To Repair!
I Need Some Help! Here Is The Rust Problem I Am Facing. The Channel That The Wiring Loom Goes In Across The Top Of The Firewall Is Rusted... All The Way Across. Plus The Cab Has The Front Floor Panels That Have Rust. Is This Too Much? I Am Trying To See If It Worth It Or Not. I Thought About Just Cutting Off The Rust And Welding In A Thin Strip Across The Top To Reconnect The Firewall To The Cab, And Getting Rid Of The "guttered Out" Piece. Anyone?

Re: To Repair Or....not To Repair!
That reminds me of my 69 when I bought it. Basically a rust free truck EXCEPT the cowl area above and behind the heater case. Wasn't really enough there to seal the fan blower to. I clipped the cowl and found another truck with a good cowl but the rest of it was clapped out. What are the chances of that?
Thing is you may cut out the bad and repair it now but will the rust come back later?

well unless your a metal god it would be far easyer to make it custom than keep it stock so i say cut out the cancer and weld in some new steel, shaving the rail at the same time. however before you go through all of this check the rest of the cab for rust. if it's really bad you may just want to concider replacing it.

Wow, looks like you need to look for a new cab. Multiply those areas times 4 to imagine how much rust is on the backside of the panels.

Re: To Repair Or....not To Repair!
I thought Oklahoma wouldn't have any rust that bad down there ?, depends on your time, money and skills. Surely you could find much better cab around there to use, just my 2 cents.

Re: To Repair Or....not To Repair!
Yeah, considering where you live I would just hunt down another cab. Leave the rust repair to us northerners.

Re: To Repair Or....not To Repair!
just a suggestion.. your sig has a link to a graphic site, in the first 2 pics the cars have careys logos. If you do work fo rcareys see if they will do a trade for a cab, there is an orange and white one out there (air IIRC) that someone has already went thru and did rust work on. It prolly needs rockers put on it since it was sitting on the ground, they are prolly beat up.

Ok, I'll Go Out There And Look. No, I Don't Really Do Work For Them, But For Some Of The Racecar Drivers That Carey's Really Helps Out Alot. Thanks.

Re: To Repair Or....not To Repair!
You are not far from AZ. By the time you went thru all that repair, money and time wise you would be ahead getting a good cab. Remember rust starts from the inside out. There is probably much more you can't see
