book recommendations

Hi all,

I think it's time for me to have a reference before I go tearing out the rest of my interior. I was wondering if anyone could recommend what they think is the best service manual out there (79 C10 Silverado).

Thanks,
Mike

Re: book recommendations

mike welcome to the board. Best refrance by far is the factory servace manual which can be found on ebay or through some other places. they are by far the best. i am not sure how much of the interior they cover as i do not own one but have used my freinds before.

Re: book recommendations

My factory service manual came from www.helminc.com. I don't know if they carry one for yours. Mine is 3 books that are a total of about 4 or 5 inches thick.

Re: book recommendations

As stated Factory service is a necessary item. Also for basic information I like Cheverolet & GMC Light truck owners bible by Moses Ludel
and for some good free information on line I use auto zones online manual. Link below

Re: book recommendations

The Cheapest ones will be on Ebay. But in the unlikely event that you cannot find an original, Classic Parts (formerly Chevy Duty) sells re-prints but their around 70 bucks.

I own a factory service manual for my 73 along with an overhaul manual and a wiring diagram manual. They come in very handy.

EDIT: Heres one I've found on ebay, it looks like its in rough shape though.

Re: book recommendations

do you have a good digital camera? when all else fails, take pics with good lighting and save em for referance for reassembly.

Haha!!!

I'd need an entire hard drive to house the pics - it is about 2 inches thick!

Re: book recommendations

I think ebay is your best bet. That is where I got all mine and the price is right.
