uggh...still cant get bezel out
well...got that part then realized the entire thing has to come out to get the bezel off...could not get the ring that holds headlight switch off, pulled form bottom and the whole thing fell apart in my hand...just had to order a new switch which means no headlights for the weekend...stlll cannot figure out how to get that piece loose...absolutely nothing is simple with these things is it...
how do you get the speedo assembly out so I can change the bezel?...bad crazziness...

Re: uggh...still cant get bezel out
The back of the switch has a small plunger to push in. Pull the light switch all the way out, depress the little plunger and it will release the light switch stem out of the switch. The bezel nut needs to be turned counter clockwise to remove from the switch. After the bezel nut is removed from the switch, it comes from behind the dash bezel. Unhook the plug to remove it entirely.
To remove the entire dash assembly, you will also need to remove the choke knob, wiper harness plub, ignition harness plug and the cigarette lighter wire. There are five screws holding the dash cluster in the dash. Prior to removing from dash you will also have to unscrew the speedometer cable. If you have factory gauges, you will also need to remove the capillary tube from the back of the oil pressure gauge. Also, the dash cluster assembly plugs into the underdash wiring harness. You will need to unplug this as well. All of this is necessary to clean, change or access the inners of the dash cluster. The bezel wrap of the dash cluster is held in place with several small hex head machine screws with 1/4" heads. After they are removed, you can clean and lube things. Good luck and I hope this helps. |
