I have had a few questions about the rear bumper on my truck, so I wanted to post a few pictures. It is a factory step bumper from an 88-98 Pickup. The OE 88-98 brackets are welded to a piece of flat steel, then the plate is bolted in the OE mounting holes. It fits surprisingly well for being the wrong year for the truck. Looking from the back it looks perfect, but from the side it is lower than the quarters.

so whats the question..from the second pic,,it looks to sit to low,,like it doesnt really fit the truck..if that makes sense..it looks like if you went into a driveway around where i live,,you could catch it and rip it off or bend it..but you got an nice truck..

I think he was saying that people have asked him questions about his bumper and he just wanted to give everyone details and pics so he wouldnt get any more questions........except I HAVE a question now that I have seen it. What made you put that one on there instead of a nice sport bumper?

That was it!!! A few people have asked to see pictures and this was the easiest way to show them. I am removing this setup and buying a new sport bumper after Christmas. I have the brackets and am just waiting to buy the bumper. Here are the pics of the brackets, and with the tailgate open. There is room to move the bumper up about 2 inches.

If you are wanting to just raise the bumper so it is more in line with the bottom of the bedside, it looks like there is room to do that (I think I see a gap between the bottom of the tail gate and the top of the bumper.) You should probably lie down and look and "imagineer" how the brackets have to be changed to accomplish what you want. The bumper really does look good on the truck.

Bob, as cool your truck looks with the new lowered stance, I say go with a roll pan to complete the look

I'm going with a roll pan eventually

I like it, I think it does fit rather nice. Not sure how much room you have with the gate down, but if you could bring it up a little, it would fit better.

I am going with a stock cheap steel bumper myself.

It looks like if you trimmed the piece off the back under the tailgate that you could raise it a good 2". I like how it looks back there, but it would look even better 2" higher

Take the plastic off, cut the back piece off, put a little paint on it so it doesn't rust, put the plastic back on, raise bumper, truck will look awesome

i like how it looks, but it does need to go up a little, the gap between the bumper and the tailgate is jsut a little to much, i wonder if the front of the same style will work on these trucks also...

you can bring it up higher to line up with the quaters and the tailgate will still open. I had one on a 67 that I had in high school looked good, I traded the truck to a fellow board member about 3 years ago. I am going to be putting one on my new 67 as soon as I find where my spare one is.

if it was raised, would the tailgate hit when the gate is down? also, centsless, do you have pics of the way it is mounted (pics of it from underneath)? thanks.
