bb chevy hi po parts-heads-intake
I have a set of 049 bbc heads, just checked them out and they got a clean bill of heath, a couple of the guides are wore on fairly bad, so they need new guides, they had stock valves when i tore them apart, they already have hardened seats in the exhaust they are bare and need to be freshend. I was going to put them on my stroker but decided to go with aluminum rec ports, for any one who does not know the 049 is the best flowing pass car oval port heads that gm put out they have 253 cc intake ports and are very impressive on street bb they will make you a ton of tq and the best hp #s out of all oval ports.. $300.00+ shipping or pick up this is what i have in them so its firm.. I also have a eldebrock 454-o victor jr single plane intake, its brand new never run, i was going to run it an wanted it to look pretty i have about 10 hrs in hand polishing the runners so they are nice and shiney- i painted the rest of it with 1500 ceremic paint it looks very good i have 250 in it plus my time, ill take 175 for it - thats a steel, pm me with inquires, i can get pics of the intake when i get home the 20th and ill have to pick the heads up from the machiene shop to get those pics, i wanted to make sure they were good before i sold them... thanks rob

Hey Rob
I've always heard the 049 are good , i have a dumb question , they won't work with a closed chamber style piston will they ? Are they more suited to a later 454 ? Thanks ............ Doug

Re: bb chevy hi po parts-heads-intake
well they should work fine with them they are a simo open chamber style head. mortech says they are 119 cc chambers, but every one i know says they are 113 ccs i don't know i have never cc them, i can tell you though the only way a person could get in trouble with bb heads is to run closed chambered heads with pop up pistons, these will work fine with dish, flat, or popups, just depends what comp your looking for, if you already have a dish piston you could deck the block and bump your comp up.
