gas filler tube

i know that is have read about this on hear before but i have been searhing all morning and cant seem to find the thread
i am trying to find out info on removing the filler tube from the tank i can see that there are 2 bolts on the tank but is there some type of seal on it also i dont want to just take it apart and mess something up to cause a leak
thank for any helpful info

DO not remove that section or you may have a bugger of a time resealing. Just remove the hose. If you want to see in, take out the sending unit on top. There really is not need to remove those bolts and the filler tube mount unless you are redesigning the tank filler.

Unless it's a aftermarket tank, I have heard they don't line up real
well with the OE necks, in that case Radiater shop to remove and rebraze?

that's what I had done when I installed the new tank in my truck. I took them both to the shop and said I want this neck on this tank, it cost me twenty bucks.

There's twenty bucks well spent, it can get ugly in a hurry if you do it the wrong way, my .02

I agree, take it to the rad shop. Unless you like explosions. If it was a brand new tank that had never seen gas, it's a different story.

its factory tank and factory neck that i need to remove i have another factory neck to replace smashed one on thank
i have one tanke with smashed neck and one with hole in bottom and i am trying to make one good talke out of the 2
