NP205 Shift Rail Question ????
So I was under my K-10 this weekend replacing the Tranny Mounts since they were pretty sad looking.
I saw this on the end of one of the shift rails??? Something welded there?? any Ideas on why? obviously not factory? How hard is it to get a shift rail and are they easy to install - seems to shift ok so I'll probably leave it alone for now anyway. Also this is a really dumb question but what is the differance between a "divorced" and "married" T.Case??? Divorced = it needs the adaptor to bolt upto the tranny? Also how do I check the Fluid level - there are 2 pipe plugs on the back of the case - do I just fill it to the top plug?? - like you would on a rear end?? What type of gear oil do you normally put in these. - Yeh I know that there is no vacuum hose on the tranny modulator - belive it or not the PO had a tranny job done and they didn't put one on it - I drove it about 100miles and it shifted!! Wierd

Re: NP205 Shift Rail Question ????
The rail is stock, they put that piece there to help 'lever' or pivot out the front rail. Yes, fill up to the upper plug hole. Divorced t-case means that it is mounted separately from the trans and requires a short driveline to the t-case input. Married or coupled means directly bolted to the trans

Yep, that is how the rail is supposed to look, I just rebuilt my 205 and it was exactly the same way.

Re: NP205 Shift Rail Question ????
Thanks guys - didn't know the shift rail was stock - glad I asked ... I figured it was one of the many things that the P.P.O(Who know's how many it's had) had screwed up.
What type of gear oil? - Regular Hypoid Gear Oil 85W90 or ???
