what does it take to make 73 drop spindles work on a 72
I have a freind that has a 72 and he want me to get him some drop spindles with my wholesale account butthe only thing is that the company I have my account with only sells 73 DJM drop spindles. None for the 67-72. What do I got to do to make those work with his existing disc brakes.

I thought it took 73+ ball joints, rotor, caliper. I think someday I'll use 73+ drop spindels too, you can get them in a 3" drop spindel

The 71-72 ball joints are different.Thers's just enough difference in the stud length that they mill not work. The 73-up ball joints will be cheaper too.

I put "73" up, droped spindles (Western) on m 71 by just changing the upper ball joints and outer tie rod ends, both for 73 up chevy PU. Stock 71 rotors, bearings, calipers all worked fine. Been four years now and still working great.

yeah, the lower joints are same 71-up, would need the 73-up rods, may be possible to swap the 72 calipers to the 73 spindles so hoses could be left alone, maybe..
not sure, its been too long now,, good luck |

Kid, has it right.
Upper ball joint, and outer tie rod. All calipers and roters work fine. Been there done that. A couple of times, LOL

Yeah, I just got done putting on drop spindles for a 73' on my 72. All that was needed, was new upper ball joints, and tie rod ends. They fit real well. I got mine from NSANE68. They are very nice.

upper balljoints n 71 and 72 are different design from 73-87, lowers are same part however, the difference from 72 to 73 uppers would be in the stud length and/or diameter, either too many threadsshowing or not enough, or loose fit into the spoindle tapered hole, or too tight fit in it, id be worried and find out for sure that you have 71 72 uppers and 73-87 spindles, and if so then id be correcting that asap,, good luck |

Mooneyes, They do fit, however the stud length on the upper ball joint is too long. This in turn does not allow you to seat the cotter pin through the castle nut
