worth it to redo window felt & channels???
I am working on getting the interior noise level down in my truck when driving on the freeway. I figure I will have to pull the rubber flooring to put down some kind of sound deadener.
My question to those whom have gone before: Did you reduce the wind noise much by redoing your door glass felt/channels and what about the wings? Also to those whom have used the sound deadener stuff did you place any inside the doors? Thanks in advance, 1 Leg Lance |

Lance, I redid the window felts and runners and it prolly quitened down my truck by half.I have a Panel so it's still like riding in a Drum but it's much better.
I sprayed undercoating on the door skin from the inside, then used some industrial gasket material to replace the plastic weather flaps on the inside of the doors.I also used some foam packing material that came with parts. It was prolly about 1/8 th in. thick and I just glued it to the inner door panels(they're metal on my 68). Remember to clean the drain holes on the door bottoms and don't let undercoating or anything clog them as the doors will hold water then they'll rust. You want to lube and clean the window tracks and the channel the rollers glide in or the windows will be stiff to roll up. P.S. I got maybe $50.00 in the felts ect. and another $70.00 or so in a new regulator.
