Need Drum to Disc Brake Line Help

Hello
I put 72 disc set up on my 69 truck but kept the old crossmember. Im having trouble getting aftermarket brake lines to fit. The 72 disc lines are for brake hoses that are on the front of the cross member and my drum crossmember has the hose tabs on the rear of the crossmember. The problrm with the drum lines is they will not fit to the proportioning valve. The disc lines will require moving the tabs to the front of the crossmember Does anyone know of a fix? Someone once told me a solution but I lost thier email.

Early Classic Enterprises in California may have the parts you need. I have their system on my '69. Had to do a little bending to make the lines work, which was a deviation from their printed instructions. I talked to the owner and he acknowledged some others had done just like we did on my truck.

At any rate, they may have the part you need to get your brakes hooked up and working. Give them a call. They are very helpful. You'll be amazed. They offered me some help before I ever bought anything from them, including making a suggestion on how to get a new GM part from GM, instead of buying it from them! Go ahead. Make the call. You'll be glad you did.

all the crossmembers are the same all the years, they just added a tab to the front with tack welds in 71 and 72, and in 73., they left them off as in prior years,

you could go with 73 calipers and hoses that use frame hole that already exist, hoses are longer

i am facing the same thing in the very near future,

whats the deal? are the drum brake front lines different diameter than disc lines?

i already bought a kit from gmc paul for the front 6lug rotors, calipers ,lines.

what will i have to do to change the proportioning valve?

???

On my 68 the front line coming off the original proportioning valve was 1/4 inch. and connected to a tee at the crossmember to 3/16 lines. The line for the disc brake prop. valve is 3/16 so you will need to change the tee at the crossmember to 3/16 size on line coming down from prop. valve. Also the rear 1/4 inch line on the original prop. valve had a fitting that would not fit the 1/4 line port on the disc brake prop valve. I had to find a fitting and bend a new line and cut original line and make double flare connection below the crossmember. Also fittings on the lines at the front brake hoses were frozen and I had to cut them off. Getting all the brake line problems straightened out was biggest problem with conversion. By the way, I used the Early Classic brake hoses to fit the connection to the lines coming off the rear of the crossmember.

The guy that I bought my 68 from was converting to disc brakes he had cut the tabs for the brake lines off of the 72 crossmember and tack welded them to the 68 crossmember.
I have not installed the lines yet so I am intrested in the
resolution of your other issues.

When I converted to 72 Disc brakes on My 69, I purchased New Front Brake Lines from LMC, everything went in Fine, however I also had to slightly rebend some pieces.
