3/4 ton shortbed 2wd???
anyone ever build one?? anything that wouldn't work out? thinking of building one out of parts trucks we have. would be a great tow rig for my dad's malibu drag car. have a 68 short frame and a 71 3/4 2wd with coils, a 402 in the garage, and a granny 4 speed. what's your thoughts??? Thanks, Devin

You might have issues with the short wheelbase for towing. They are not as stabel as long beds.

Easy to build, crappy to tow with when a short wheel base--i also prefer leaf springs for towing.

It can be done, but honestly, it's going the wrong way.
I would want a longhorn or a normal LWB truck for a tow rig over a SWB truck. |

I built one about 15 years ago, not for towing though. It was a 69 short bed step side that had a 396 in it. I had built up the engine to about 450 ponies. Damn thing wouldn't stop with the factory drums. So I converted to 8 lug disc for the braking.

I built one a few years ago with a 402/400 combo. Pulled a trailer with it & never had a problem. But I used a leaf spring frame instead of a coil spring frame. It was a great truck I wish I had it back.
