LWB to SWB conversion info?
I sold my lwb bed last week, and tuesday im going to pickup the swb bed. i have only read one article on the conversion and i was hopeing someone here could give me some pointers.
I already have the 16gal tanks. i know i have to remove the tanks, brake lines and driveshaft. does anyone know of a good write up on this? Im sure this has been asked before, i did do a search but i didnt find anything specific on 73-87 LWB into SWB sonversion's. I read somewhere to measure 6" from rear of cab, then mark it, go 14" from mark and those are the cutting points. also cut 6" off rear of frame. the problem i have with this is my fuel tank mounts exactly 6" from the back of the cab, would there be a problem if i went 10" from cab then marked off the 14" cutout piece? PLEASE dont flame me for this swap, i know alot of fellers like the stock trucks or LWB's but i LOVE swb trucks! (i want mine to look like hiway's truck or classic87's i think his username is) thanks in advance for any help and info!! Joe G
