Been Away for awhile...

Took some time away from the trucks and haven't been on the board for quite awhile. There are lots of new people! Here is a quick pic of what I have been working on.

409 with a short fill, zero decked, light internal balance crank, Mahle forged pistons, 6" rods, AFR 210 race ready heads, Voodoo cam, MSD ignition.

Brad, it is nice to see that you are still around. I see that your truck is now a SWB and that you are still carrying the 6 banger banner!

Bishops Trucks, the motor is a small block 400 that has been punched .040". Technically it is a 408.7" but I just rounded it off!

Yes, they are March brackets...very nice pieces. I would recommend them. I will try and get you some pictures.

I think that I may have mislead some of you. That motor is in my '73 'maro that I am preparing for road racing at the local track this summer. This is a picture of the motor in my P/U. It is kind of dirty now!

The trans was built by Bowtie Overdrives with upgraded internals. I have heard the debate on the strength of the 700R4 ad nauseam. I have been running this trans for 4 years with zero problems. It has been one of the best upgrades that I have done. The low first gear works great with the 33" tires and the 4:10 rear gears. Then I can go out on the highway and cruise at 70 mph at about 2300 RPM. I am not one of those old 67-72's in the far right lane doing 55 mph going down the highway with my motor screaming. You all know that you have seem them! Granted I am not doing anything extreme like professional mud bogging or drag racing but I don't plan on thrashing my truck anyway. I do go trail riding with it though.

Oh, and I have done the occasional power brake, smoke the tires in front of my buddies house!

Is that a Mazire electric water pump??Keep an eye on the fittings that the rad hoses connect to, I had one come loose while flying down the hiway in my Mustang.

That engine looks sweet by the way!!!!

I probably will not run heater hoses. If I need heat, then I probably shouldn't have my car out!

welcome back brent. I still have the ole 250/6 out of your truck. I showed it to a friend yesterday and told the story of where it came from.

I am working a plan to thin the herd this month. I will probably hang onto the motor for some special 6 cyl resto truck some day. I'm finally coming to realization I can't build them all.

Hope you stick around. I always remember your 700R4 setup and glad to hear its still very reliable.

Actually, that isn't true! An alder fell on the cab of my old truck (which is now on a 2wd chassis). The old 4x4 is protected in the garage with the wife complaining about her new car sitting outside. The tree did not hurt the cab much. Just a small dent.

Now that I am working on the 4x4 again, I have to figure out a way to mount that sway bar that I got from you!

Oh, and I will definitely being trying to get past you on the freeway! I don't want to get hit by any scrap metal! ; )

Boy, your truck turned out really nice Yukon! I think when I quit visiting the board you were still trying to fit the cab around the motor.

Hah, I figured that out too Bob! My poor old '68 is actually inop right now. I pulled the entire body off of it and put it on a 2wd chassis. That diamond plate floor that was welded into the bed made for a back breaking day of removal! I have been collecting prestine sheet metal to redo the 4x4. I came across a decent short fleetside bed for it so will be changing that. Last week I located the final piece that I needed, a take-off tailgate that looks like the day it rolled off the production line. With the Camaro motor completed, I am diving into my truck again.
