Bed length differences?
What is the difference in length between a long bed and short bed and is the distance difference just in the section from the front of the bed to the wheel opening or is it distributed in the front and back parts of the bed.

Re: Bed length differences?
12" between the cab and front edge of the wheel well, then 8" from the rear edge of the wheel well and the end.

Re: Bed length differences?
I own both long fleet and shortfleet trucks but never really looked all that close. The big difference is between the wheel openings and back but it is longer from the front panel to the wheel opening also IIRC

Re: Bed length differences?
thanks for the info. I have a pretty solid long bed fleet side and dont have a use for it and need a short bed so I think I may try playing with the plasma cutter and welder sometime.

Re: Bed length differences?
There have been a few people who have cut the bed. You want to remove the amount I mentioned above, but getting the lines to match up might take some work.
Do a search on long to short conversions. |
