Brakes failed
I was driving into town the other night and my brakes failed. Luckily I was only doing about 20mph, so I just geared down, pumped the brake & applied the parking brake. I slowly sort of skidded & rolled to a stop. The ride home was quite an adventure, I'll tell you that much.
Anyhow, apparently the left front brake hose was put on incorrectly when we had the brakes redone a few months ago. If the wheels are turned left, the hose rubbed against the inside of the rim, which caused it to twist & distort very badly. We took it in tonight to get it fixed. Hopefully we'll be back on the road in no time! |

Hmmm, that is pretty much what happened to me yesterday.
I was rather surprised (and pleased) that the parts store had the hose, in stock, for 10 bucks. For anyone wondering...the hose is the exact same 1/2 ton - one ton. LoL the same thing happend to me about a week ago. Front left brake hose wore out and sprung a leak. I used a piece of wook, jammed it into the hose and taped it off with electric tape. Those are the only things i had handy and it did the job. I got home safe. What a redneck eh?

I actually drove a few days with no front brakes at all - hose blew on the front discs and I had to wait for the parts store to get another one. The back drums don't do half bad by themselves..

Drove a Honda Civic with the back lines crimped shut for about 2 years...only noticed in the rain and in corners.

the brakes on the convertible went the same night the engine did. I was at a cruz night in Kearney. talk about scary!!! hundreds of high dollar cars and here's my work in progress, smoking oil and no brakes!! that was a long 60 miles home. My brand new master cylinder was the problem, it started bypassing, evidently blew a seal somewhere.
