New exhaust needed, what do you think of this?
my one muffler blew out the other day, i was thinking of just putting a used one from ebay in for now and continue on since i'm not ready for my total re-store planned in april... but just one muffler is 100.00. so....
In previous threads i posted regarding a new exhaust and even a poll taken, i think i've decided to go magnaflow. The system i want is 600.00+ from jegs but i found the same system on ebay for half of that... i was thinking i would just use one of the mufflers for now, sleeve clamp it in and re-use it when i'm ready to install the whole new system. heres the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...DME:B:EF:US:11 anyone see a problem with this or the ebayer? please let me know. TIA

Re: New exhaust needed, what do you think of this?
It's made for a longbed, so you have to cut it down a bit at the headers. We put it on my brother's short box stepside last summer. He's very happy with the sound. Deep and mellow with the 350 crate.
Mufflers are pretty shiny too He has a 6" rear drop with the long adjustable track bar in the rear, so the guy who installed the exhaust had to cut and re-weld some of the right hand tail pipe to get the proper clearance. Looks real nice. Hope this helps Peter |

i would go to pep boys or auto zone and buy a cheap 25-30 dollar replacement for now and save the new system for the total rebuild

Re: New exhaust needed, what do you think of this?
it'd be cheaper in the long run to just go to a local auto parts store buy yourself 1generic turbo muffler in the $20 range to use for a short term solution

Maybe now is a good time to get to know a local muffler shop as in "family owned" I have one near me that I use that will custom make anything I want and is very reasonable. Maybe he will trade for a hammer! The guy I use is really fond of cash in hand.

Re: New exhaust needed, what do you think of this?
The shop near me wants $240 including cheap turbo mufflers. It might be a little more to run it all the way out, but I bet it would still be cheaper than that and it's one less thing I would have to mess with.

Re: New exhaust needed, what do you think of this?
my thought is that this will give me an oportunity to hear the flowmaster delta flows for cheap. If i clamp them right, i can remove them later and re-sell them on ebay, after i clean them up. or maybe i'll like them so much i wont go magnaflow and just use them will all new pipes. if i buy an auto zone turbo muffler i'm out 20-30 bucks when i take it off and throw it out.
just thinking out loud

Re: New exhaust needed, what do you think of this?
That's a Magnaflow setup, or am I reading it wrong? For $460, you should be able to get a very nice setup at a local muffler shop. Some shops will use your mufflers, so you could buy them from Summit and save a few bucks too.

Re: New exhaust needed, what do you think of this?
yes youre right but i have two options, maybe 3,
option 1 - buy a pair of used delta flows off ebay for 100 bucks, sleeve clamp them in and use them for awhile until i'm ready for my New magnaflow set-up in May. unclamp, clean up, paint hi-temp flat black and re-sell on ebay. option 2 - buy the New magnaflow set-up now for 369.00 and use just one of the mufflers from the kit, to replace my shot one, and then re-use it when its time for the whole new system. sorry for being confusing. but it must come out somewhere

april is not far away. can you cobbel something up to put both head pipes into the one good muffler? rivet a patch on the blown muffler to hold you over?
