tubular motor mounts

anyone using tubular motor mounts with a big block? would it be easier to find 73 up motor mounts and stands

I was at apache wreckin yard on mansfield hwy last fri and they had a coouple of 73 and up mounts

any idea what they were running and how easy are those to put in i don't wanna pull the motor out

Sure don't. I couldn't see the mounts being more than 20 bucks. I think you might be able to put them in with just lifting the motor up

Tubular mounts - cake to install. Not inexpensive.

Just a heads up on the tubular mounts from performanceonline.com, they won't fit the 67 frame. Apparently, the 67s weren't available with a Big Block, so the top flange of the 67s aren't narrowed like the 68s and up. See my build thread for pics.

If you look at post #15 , 26 & 34 you'll see what I mean. I have cut the top flange just enough to get the mount bolted up (post #26), then once I get around to setting the motor in I will mock up the headers and make sure I don't need any additional room for those. Then I plan to copy the original smooth curved cuts like the factory cut on the 68s and up. (see performanceonline's picture in post #35)

They will work for the 67s apparently, but not without a little modification.

I haven't got the motor in yet so I can't say how well the headers fit with the tubular mounts, but I'm moving my Chevelle outside and the truck's chassis inside tomorrow, and if were lucky, maybe I can mock up the engine and tranny and headers by next weekend at the latest.

I don't have a big block. But..... the tubular mounts offer more clearance vs the stock 'towers' on my sbc application so it should be the same if using a bbc.

I used them on my bbc swap,,they fit good,i used flowtech headers with no problems so far.

how much clearance u have between the driverside header and mount

Anybody have good pics of a factory notched frame for the motor mounts. My 68 appears to be very wide at that point. But it does have the dimples for the power steering.

tubular mounts in new heddman elite headers don't fit either side. drivers side in with front bolt but cylinder 1 exhaust tube hitting tubular mount. passenger side wont even go in between the motor and frame

I have the performanceonline.com tubular mounts, headers, poly engine mounts and a BBC. Headers are Headman Elite headers. No fit issues at all.

I did find that it's much easier to fish them in from the bottm vs. the top. My 1970 Camaro was like that too.

I've never used headman products before, man the elite headers are beefy.

Actually I was really surprised how easily they went in.

yeah im using the performance online mounts with poly mounts drivers side barely hits don't know whether to send them back and try another brand, dimple the header a lil bit or try to dimple the mount.the drivers side went in easy but the back bolt hole don't line up since its hitting and the passenger side won't go in through top or bottom im going to try again today and see what i can do to get passenger header in if it goes in with no other issue then i will deal with the drivers side. do u have any pics of yours?

performance online tech told me to use the rear holes after trimming the frame and sliding motor and trans back 2 inches it didn't have enough clearance for the tall valve covers, the short valve covers only had about 1/4 inch clearance.

Mine is bolted to the Big Block mounting holes for the mounts, or the forward holes. No clearance issues for the HEI or the valvecovers. No issues with my headman elites either. I can post picture, let me know what you wanna see.
