Question

Speaking of 16.5 inch wheels, are tires still available for these?

I bought a set of 4 white wagon wheels with 31"x 10.5 inch tires for get this...a whopping $60 dollars at the Maple grove, Pa. flea market recently.

A very quick search in 1 or 2 catalogs didn't show any tires in 16.5.

Even if they are obsolete, the tires are really decent (about 3/4 good) so I'll get my $60 dollars worth out of them! LOL Im doing pretty good with my '71 so far. I paid $50 for the truck and $60 for the wheels/tires!

If this pic works, this shows the truck exactly as I bought it with the ugly wheels/tires but they are 16.5's. Big improvement with the nice ones. I also did alot to the body so it's not quite as ugly anymore. LOL

yEs, 16.5 are still out there, but you'll pay for them. I think I'll buy 2 for my truck (it has two new ones already) and then start getting one rim at a time till I'm all set.
Well here's a shot of a '71 Longhorn with the original hub caps with a 9.50 16.5 tire.

BF goodrich has 16.5's in a 31 x 10.50 16.5 in both the mud terrain TA and the All-terrain TA but they are $140+ apiece. I've got a set of 9.00X 16.5 om my 71 3/4 ton burb but I'm going to go to the 10.50's this year.

Are you set on going with 16.5"? You can get alot of choices in the 16" rim size and still not have a problem with caliper clearance.

Here's a pic of the back side of my 16" rim with 35" tire.
