Re: Worth asking for?

Ditto! Why not ask, do really not want to know if they are free, or very little money? For all you know they might just want them gone!! That's what does it for me, the thrill of the hunt, I do not get all worked up, cause they might not be for sale, but you never know till you ask!! BTW that 4X4 stepper is looking good, let us know how it goes!!

Re: Worth asking for?

The problem is i have no way of finding the owner of the land, a friend of my dad owns a pipeline company and he said he might be able to find him.

Re: Worth asking for?

Finding the owner of the land is easy. Call the county recorders office with the address and they will tell you. Or, if you don't know the address get one that is close, go down to the office and you can view the maps to get the correct one. All of this is public information, all you have to do is ask. Good Luck

I've gone as far as using online county gis land records to get the name and then looking up the phone # on yellowbook.com

Yep, we have heard that word before. Maybe you will ask on the day the wife is nagging at the owner to get rid of them.

i've bought a lot of trucks by knocking on doors---hell, the previous owner of my 72 cheyenne super was stopped at ace hardware when i saw the truck, i waited for him to come out, asked if he wanted to sell it, two days and $1200.00 later it was mine. GO ASK.

Re: Worth asking for?

I think someone has a good start on a killer treasure chest. I see enough good stuff there to make it worth the effort to find the owner even if the answer is no. It could turn into a maybe or yes before long if there was some interest shown. Go for it.

Re: Worth asking for?

I work in the oil patch and come across stuff all the time sitting out in fields. Get a county map and it will list the owners name. Look the name up in the phone book and call them up.

If that doesn't work out, try asking a neighbor if they know who the landowner is. If there is any oil/gas wells on the land, you may be able to find out through the oil company as part of their Emergency Response Plan.

If you do talk to the owner, just tell them you saw the trucks FROM THE ROAD!! People get real pissy if they find out you were trespassing!

And I'm interested in getting in on one of those trucks if you can make a package deal! Let me know how you make out.

Brian
