69 Brake lights
Thank you all for having such a great forum. I have only had my truck for two weeks, but I already have fallen in love with this site. I have recently purchased a 69 c10. I have front and rear lights, all turn signals but I can't seem to get the brake lights working. My father in-law said I should have a switch that is pushed when the brake pedal is pressed, but the only switch I find at all is located just off the master cylinder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 69 Brake lights
The switch is under the dash.
Read this thread and grab the wiring diagrams in it for yourself: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...wiring+diagram

Re: 69 Brake lights
I found the switch thanks for all of the help. It was much higher than I figured. I thought it was a switch that was pushed when in reality it is released. It isn't the culprit though it works so I'm on to rule out the next steps. Thanks again!!!

Re: 69 Brake lights
The turn signals are fine. It seems that the previous owner did alittle rewiring, and the wires for the brakes have been removed. I hope to get the replaced this weekend. I really appreciate all of your knowledge. This site is a lifesaver. Thanks again!!

Re: 69 Brake lights
coach, the next step is grounds. It's a mantra on these trucks when you have an electrical problem "Check the grounds".You should also check to see that the bulbs are correct. The connector plug under the bed should be good since you have the other lights but there may be a worn or broken spot in the wire, especially where it runs thru the frame(should be a rubber grommet btu it's 40 years old if it's still there.
BTW did I mention that about 50% of the time the problem is with the grounds"Check the grounds".

Re: 69 Brake lights
that's why I asked about the turn signals. If they light up, then the grounds are good, and it also removes all the wires from the troubleshooting steps.
