WTB auto cross member for a 1 ton
It just dawned on me today as I was preparing to pull the cab and front end off the ton that I don't have a cross member, anybody have one?

I'm pretty sure all you need are some spacers.

Re: WTB auto cross member for a 1 ton
I'm pretty sure it is. All longhorns have them also. I saw 1 on ebay a week or so ago. You might try a search on completed listings for spacer.

Re: WTB auto cross member for a 1 ton
the cross member is the same 1/2 ton through one ton... but one ton trucks and longhorns, need a spacer. I have a set here somewhere, sandblasted and painted.

Thanks Andy, that's what I was thinking, but I didn't want to post without being sure.

Re: WTB auto cross member for a 1 ton
$40 + shipping. Pulled from 71 C-30 Custom Camper, has spacers on it already. I can clean before shipping it.
edit: that thing hanging on the bottom is a home-made heat shield, I'll pull it off. Last edited by Americanrider; 01-30-2007 at 02:57 PM. |

Re: WTB auto cross member for a 1 ton
Americanrider, that is tempting but I think freight might be too much. I have a lead on a cross member here local, now just need the spacers or specs to make them. I know I opened the door for this and before somone says it the spacer would be the difference between the height of the two frame. I'm more interested in what they look like so the ones I make will look correct.

Re: WTB auto cross member for a 1 ton
I now have a crossmember but after seeing 67sss's pic I think I would rather buy than make so I am still needing the spacers. Andy, since you were first, are yours for sale? Americanrider? 67sss? I'm not particular from whom, just want to be fair.

Re: WTB auto cross member for a 1 ton
Mine are sand blasted, painted and cleaned. (not in that particular order)
They are in a box ready to ship... 45 to your door, I would give them an 8 out of 10 on condition... some manir pitting and just shy of perfection on the paint. All 4 grade 5 3/8 bolts with flat and lock washers included too. |
