looking for a picture guys....

I'm looking for a picture of a 67-72 frame with the drive train installed but no bed/cab/front end, frame and drivetrain only. I am looking at a mod and want to know if I will have clearance issues. Any additional angles I can get would be a plus. Thanks guys.....Jerry

Hi Jerry,

I'm sure if you posted what the mod is someone on here has already done it (or something similar) and can tell you if you will have any problems with it. Just a thought.....

Don't really know much about the wheels, they came on a 72 parts truck I bought, but I have to agree with you they are way cool The truck had caught fire and bought it for the wheels 15x8 front and 15x10 in the rear, suspention(5 lug disc brakes and wider rear end), motor and tranny, and parted the rest. I think someone said they might be speed racers from the mid 80's. LMK if you ever find out about them I would like to know as well It had a fuel fire under the hood and the kid is lucky it didn't explode, their was over 7 feet of just rubber fuel line from under the cab to the tank, and the tank came from a boat, yeah that's right a boat poly tank that they had relocated to the rear of the frame, just wedged under the rear crossmember btween the rails, nothing else holding it in

Eastwoods epoxy high glooss chassis black. I used their frame paint system,
started with a two part converter on the clean frame and then their rust encapsulator over that and then the high gloss chassis black on top(2-3 coats of the gloss black)

Re: looking for a picture guys....

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to leave you in the dark on the mod, I just didn't want a mile long post explaining everything. I am planning on relocating my master cylinder/brake booster/pedal setup to an underfloor unit like some of the older 40's and 50's model trucks. I am looking at a company out of North Carolina that sells them and I have found a few setups on ebay. I am planning on shaving the firewall as completely as I can. Is there anybody else on here that has done this? I know I talked to a guy on here a year or so ago that had done this to his burb, but I lost contact with him before I could get any pics of his fab work. My concern right now is how I will run my exhaust system. I am running a 350 and I have bought 3/4 length chevelle headers for it. I plan on running 2" or 2 1/4 " pipe off the headers and into a pair of summit polished stainless steel mufflers I picked up off ebay. (They are sweet!!) This is where my clearance questions come in. Thanks for all the input so far and if there is anybody else that has done this mod or has any really good views of the area around the transmission/rear of the engine area, that would be great. Thanks guys,...........Jerry

Re: looking for a picture guys....

Bamm,
have you test fitted your headers yet? I bought some camaro/chevelle headers and they wouldn't fit, they interfered with the DS motor mount, and also looked like even if they did fit were going to interfere with the tranny linkage. Here are a few pics of th area you want to see and my headers are for an 88-95 truck 3/4 length ceramic coated. I did have to trim the DS rail about 1/4" on th top only to make them fit in there nicely, and it doesn't look like they will interfere with the tranny linkage either

Re: looking for a picture guys....

Great pics Byrd. I haven't test fitted them yet, but I have seen the same ones on different trucks on here. I have a lokar transmission cable setup that loses all the bulkiness of the stock unit and works with a braided s/s cable so I can route it many different ways. Clearance there should not be a problem. I might incorporate an x-pipe into the exhaust equation so that I can pull the pipe in near the rear of the tranny which will hopefully route it around the master cylinder/brake booster. We'll see. Thanks for all the pics and help guys, and if anybody else see's/knows where I can get any more info/pics on this mod, please post it for us. Thanks again, ........Jerry

Re: looking for a picture guys....

Hey Chuck, I've seen the under dash setup, I think Kugel is the only company that makes them. Cost is the reason I think you don't see a lot of under dash units. In comparison Kugels unit, (which is extremely nice) will run you between $550 & $600 for everything needed, while Fatrodders has the under cab setup and everything you need for around $175-$225 depending on how far you want to go. Big difference........
