Can anyone ID my master cylinder?

Many years ago (20+), I recall helping my father change the MC on the '68 SWB 307 2bbl Auto C10.

The brakes (4 wheel manual drums) are scary bad, and I know that new cylinders, hardware, and shoes are in order. Also, a flush and likely turn the drums, maybe even new rubber lines. All that seems simple enough. But if I've got the wrong MC, then I guess that goes on the list too.

However, after looking at pics of dozens of engine compartments on this site, I've yet to see a MC exactly like mine.

As far back as I can remember, the brakes have always pulled to the ditch side, but it seems to have gotten steadily worse over the years. That's why its been taken off the road. They're scary bad.

The proportion valve seems correct, as far as I can tell, but the MC looks wrong. There is a bolt that holds the cover on, as you can see in the pics. All the ones I've seen before have wire hoop clips to secure the top.

I do not know where this came from, and there are no markings or #'s that I can use to ID.

Anyone seen this before?

I was just looking at one like that at Central Auto Parts here in Longwood. It was listed in his book under 71 Chev C-10 under a different type of braking system. Not the one I have though. I have disc in the front. I would say its the original style.

No I cant say that I recognize that MC but the pulling to one side are an indication of collapsed rubber brake line hose. I had an 84 Camaro that did that jumped to the side of the road when the brakes were applied. Come to find out the rubber bake lines were dryrotted and lost pressure. So when the brake was applied it would slow the wheel, but when let off the vaccum would collapse the hose and keep pressure on the pad and rotor.

There should be a casting number on the bottom- where you can't see it without taking it off or using a mirror. I want to say it is a Bendix instead of a Wagner- but not sure. Now you got me curious as to what's on my old (son's now) '68 K10 back in Nebraska in my dad's garage- I'ts been a while since I even looked at it.

When I was redoing my drum brakes, Autozone sold me one that looked like that. I got one with the wire for free from the PO and took that one back. I told them 68 Chevy C10 2wd 250 inline and thats what they gave me. I didn't like the bolt holding the cover down so thats another reason it went back.

Well, I guess this spring, when I get around to the brake repairs, I'll just get a new(rebuilt) unit. I hope that they'll take this one as a core exchange.
