With the disc setup the hard lines go to the front of x member. You will have to make the clips and weld or bolt to X member. Also look at your rubber hoses, they use different size tubing on each side. I put 72 spindles on a 70 and had no problem with the steering stops. The easiest way is to get the front lines off of the donor truck.

2nd that, dont cut the steer stops! I used a 71-72 lower a arm on mine, but you can trim the stops on the spindle if you dont have access to replacement arms. Use the ball joints for the year of the spindle,& you will need to change the tierod assys(71 up),& may need to change the center link(also 71 up). Good luck.........69

69 Longhorn,
How much did you trim off the spindle stops?
I have a 69 and parts off a 71. I don't want to swap lower control arms because mine are not rusty at all. I have a set of 71 lowers but they are slightly pitted so I really hate to use them or the rest of the whole cross member (the rotors and calipers need changed).

My plan is to use my 69 crosmember with new ball joints all around, 71 spindles, rotors, calipters, 71 i/o tie rods, sleeves, center link, new pitman arm. Make new lines using the 71 xmem as a guide, 71 Master, booster, & prop. valve. new hoses & brake fluid also. What else do I need?

Woody,I used 71 arms,so no trimming was needed. There are a couple guys on the board that used pre 71 arms,& opted to trim the stops on the spindle, but Im not sure how much. You could turn the wheels lock to lock before you tear down,& get a measure, then just try to trim to get the original measure. Good luck.....69 longhorn.
