Newbie needs help--what's it worth, '72 K20 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am new to this forum and would like some help. I am thinking of buying this truck as a project. It is a 1972 Chev K20 Cheyenne, 350, 4 speed, 8' box.
It has 119,000 miles, engine smokes and burns oil but truck runs and drives, front fenders and box have some rust, bumpers look pretty good, interior is fair, dash is cracked. I have always liked the '72 body and grill and had one as a driver 20 years ago. Seller is asking $2250.00. I have some photos but not sure how to load them. Does this price sound about right? Any comments would be greatly appreciated? Thanks.

Depending on the shape of the body(need pics to tell),It might be worth that.

When you are on the posting screen, scroll down to the area that says additional opptions, in that area will be a button that says manage attachments. click on that and it will bring up a popup window that will have the browse buttons. once you finish browsing. click the download button( next to the browse button) and you pics will be part of you post.
as for the price, yes it depends on the condition of the body, if its real rough, I would say talk him down or pass it up, but WE NEED PICS!

To compare we bought my dad a real similar truck about 7 yrs ago on sweetheart deal from friends family estate. I think we paid around $1800 then and thought it was a great deal. No PS, 4spd, split rims, etc. About $17k later dad has a nice truck.

If the rust isn't too bad, that is a fair price. I paid $1,750 for my 69 K20 with very minimal rust - I thought I got a great deal!

yeah the k20's arent cheap, and are kinda scarce in my opinion. I bought my 1970 k20 in october for 1300 and it was a basket case. and i was real happy with the price

Welcome from to the site.I`d say being a Cheyenne makes it worth the price,also.2wd Cheyennes may not be so rare,but K/20s are a tuffer find.

I paid a bit more than that for mine............It was in this condition when I bought it

I put new cab supports in it, inner rockers, new interior, replaced the 454 with a 250 with some goodies on it, repainted the interior, exterior and frame, didn't touch the stack body. If it didn't have the stakebody on it, It wouldn't have been worth it, but adding that in, the tool boxes, new aluminum rims/tires, and a good frame(A hard find here in PA) I decided to go for it. Now I have this and for what I do, she'll last me a long time.

doesn't sound too bad but as stated earlier rust plays a huge role in price. another thing is options-p-s, p-b, a-c, tilt, tach, am/fm, tow hooks, toolbox bed, etc. pics will definitly help.
