454 swap
Having problems lining up engine mounts to frame stands on my new big block installed today. Went the same route as Tx Firefighter suggested. Using 68-71 frame mounts and small block engine mounts. Can't get the engine back far enough to line up the holes. Need another 3/4 inch. Tried everything, loosen off all mounting bolts including tranny mount bolts. Pry bars etc. Anyone have any other suggestions before I drill more holes in the frame?

Re: 454 swap
I'm not real familiar with these truck mounts, some one may have a different idea but this is one I ran into on a buddies 69 nova. He put the mounts on the wrong side could not figure out why his engine sat back so far that the tranny cross member would not line up. He put it in that way modified the cross member runs drives fine, he asked me about it and we got to looking sure enough that was it. I'm not even sure if your truck mounts are able to be reversed but worth a look anyway. GOOD LUCK!

From everything I've read that wont work. I guess I didn't see tx's thread on it. LockDoc

Re: 454 swap
Triple checked them before I put them in.

Re: 454 swap
You didn't state but I assume a 2wd and BB stands like Tx used. If that is the case, did you mount the stands in the forward location? I have a 454 in my 67 with plenty of room all around the engine - HEI, heads, and bell housing are. I used 72 mounts and towers but had NO problems.
Hope this helps - Bob

Yes, 2wd. Using the front holes.Driveshaft out.Got a couple more hands for help. Got it in there, but still had to grind the holes in the towers a little longer. Thanks guys.
