changing my rear main seal
I am told I need to drop my oil pan and unbolt my tranny....but what is involved in this and what tools will I need and how long does it normally take to complete this job?

You dont have to un-bolt the tranny. You may need to undo engine mounts & raise the engine up in front, to clear cross member when taking the pan out. It will take a afternoon to complete, but if you are like me IF TAKES A HOUR TO DO IT WILL TAKE ME FIVE....LOL I hope this helps you.

only have to unbolt tranny and plate if its an 86-up engine, need torque wrench and re torque the rear most main cap(oil pump mount son this one) bolts, push the upper half of seal through around between the crank journal and the block, and push the new one in, there wil be a blue piece of plastic to use as a shoe horn to protect the seal from being cut on sharp edge of block, some people use sealer on the ends of the seal halves to seal them together to prevent any possible leak, and some people dont
